The energy body contains seven power points called "chakras", which means "wheels". The chakras are spinning centers of energy forming a natural mystic ladder that is climbed on the spiritual journey.

Base (Root) - 1st Chakra
Location: Perineum (the point between the sexual organs and the anus)
Function: Muladhara- foundation on which luminous energy system rests
Body Aspects: Testosterone and oestrogens, prostate gland and ovaries, bladder, elimination system, lymph system, sacral plexus, legs and feet
Endocrine Gland: Ovaries and testes
Color: Red stimulates and boosts energy. Too much can promote anger.
Musical Note: C
Gemstone: Ruby, Onyx, Obsidian and Hermatite
Essential oils: Cedar wood, Angelica, Ginger, Frankincense and Lavender
Seeds: Kundalini and abundance
Instinct: Survival and procreation
Unbalanced: Hoarding, predatory behaviour, mindlessness, anger, chronic fatigue, abandonment issues, scarcity and lack.
Some look to alcohol/drug or seek security materially to numb the pain (anger, resentment). But this only numbs for a while, and the side effects and damage cause even deeper imbalance physically (cirrhosis), emotionally ( anger outbursts), and mentally(anxiety) creating greater desire to numb out from life.
Balanced: Balancing this chakra gives energy to the physical body and helps in grounding. Ability to provide for oneself and safety. Gateway to feminine energy.
Root chakra exercise: march your feet or do squats.

Endocrine Gland: Adrenals, stress glands
Color: Orange encourages joy, socializing and optimism. Too much leads to pessimism.

Seeds: creativity, compassion, family
Instinct: sexuality
Unbalanced: Fear, shame, guilt, and low self-image. Bullies and cowards; Bravado and posturing. Sexual/emotional abuse
Balanced: When the stored emotional baggage is cleared away and the chakra is clean the person thinks positive thoughts, thus no impure thoughts or feelings can penetrate. This is reflected in living with creativity, compassion, sexual vitality and family love without complaining. There is no longer the need to numb out. Self-confidence and interest in life returns.
